2015 Ribfest

In partnership with the Rotary of Durham Region and PFLAG Durham, we operated a hotdog/sausage/hamburger stand during the 2015 Ribfest with the proceeds supporting the work of the Rotary and Distress Centre Durham.

On Saturday, September 6th, 2014 we had our 10th Annual Walk for Suicide Awareness. We want to thank everyone who joined us to help raise awareness and to remember those we have lost.

Martini & Manicure Event - Tuesday, May 14, 2013 (6:00-9:00pm)

Celebrating our BFF's! Mothers, daughters, sisters, and friends came together for an evening or pampering in support of Distress Centre Durham.

8th Annual Walk for Suicide Awareness

Together we walked to reduce the stigma of suicide, honour the memory of those we lost, raise awareness of the impact of suicide on communities, work towards preventing future suicides, and raise funds for the DCD suicide support services.

Close To My Heart - February 12, 2011

On behalf of the nearly 8,000 callers, clients, staff, board, and volunteers of Distress Centre Durham, we sincerely thank Robert Lewis and his amazing team of friends and family who attended this fundraising event!

With a small staff team, Distress Centre Durham is so grateful to community members who offer their support by holding fundraising events to our benefit, allowing us to focus on delivering emotional support and crisis intervention to those in need, through our 24 hour helpline and support groups. Robert, we thank you so much for the generous donation of over $1200 to help support our programs and services. We hope to participate in this great night again next year!

6th Annual 5 KM Walk for Suicide Awareness

Our annual Walk for Suicide Awareness was a big success! On Saturday, September 11, 2010 from 10:00am-12:30pm, volunteers walked to support suicide awareness. After the walk, the participants were invited to enjoy free food courtesy of Maple Leaf Consumer Foods of Port Perry and Tom's No Frills (Ajax).

Oshawa Little Theatre Presents GREASE

On Thursday, April 8, 2010 Oshawa Little Theatre presented its production of GREASE to a nearly sold out crowd. The evening was full of fun, great music, and wonderful performances by local actors and actresses.

We cannot thank Oshawa Little Theatre enough for selecting Distress Centre Durham as the beneficiary of the evening. A percentage of the proceeds raised through ticket sales that night was donated to Distress Centre Durham. The evening raised approximately $3,000 which will help us to continue to provide help to those in distress.

We hope to make this event an annual one! The Staff, Board and Volunteers who attended on behalf of Distress Centre Durham had a great evening! Thank you for your support!

Yuk Yuk's Night - A Great Success!

On Thursday, April 1, 2010 the Ladies of Harley Owners Group (Durham Chapter) hosted a fundraising evening at Yuk Yuk's in Ajax benefiting Distress Centre Durham. Over 120 people enjoyed great comedians, took part in a raffle, and 50/50 draw. The total funds raised for the night was just over $1,400! We would like to once again thank Gina Tottle and her group for their continued support. We are already looking forward to next year!

"The Mating Season" (by Sam Cree) - Dinner Theatre Directed by Glen Ottaway

What a Hilarious night for all at Class Act Dinner Theatre at 104 Consumers Drive in Whitby. We wish to thank Rocky for another fine performance and the food was amazing as usual. Everyone enjoyed a nice relaxing evening. We would like to thank Class Act for this wonderful fundraiser!

5th Annual 5 KM Walk for Suicide Awareness

In recognition of World Suicide Prevention Day (September 10, 2009) Distress Centre Durham Held it's 5th Annual 5 KM Walk for Suicide Awareness at Heydenshore Park along the Whitby Waterfront Trail on Saturday, September 12, 2009.

It was a wonderful day of hope, remembrance, and inspiration as many participants joined Distress Centre Durham on a gorgeous sunny day to raise awareness on suicide and it's impact. Participants raised pledges and walked in recognition of someone they lost to suicide. Together we walked, enjoyed our BBQ lunch, and released balloons in unison with messages of love. Thanks to everyone's support we raised in excess of $8,000 for our Suicide and Crisis Support Programs.

4th Annual Martini & Manicure Event

It just keeps getting better! The 4th Annual Martini & Manicure event benefiting Distress Centre Durham was held on Tuesday, May 12, 2009 at the Class Act Dinner Theatre in Whitby.

With the help of 15 local estheticians and students approximately 100 women enjoyed manicures, appetizers, a flavoured martini, and a gift bag with wonderful products from MAC Cosmetics, AVON, Mary Kay, and Lise Watier.

The participants also received the chance to receive a 15 minute massage, great door prizes, a 15 minute psychic reading and more! It was a night full of surprises and a night to remember. We thank you all! We raised approximately $4,000 . The funds raised help us deliver our 24 hour telephone helpline and our crisis support services to Durham Region. Thanks to our attendees for supporting us! Watch for next years event!
