HOW CAN I HELP THE CENTRE?

  1. Become a volunteer (as a helpline worker, Board/committee member, or in various other ways).
    Apply to be a volunteer.

  2. Make a donation (to Distress Centre Durham directly, or to the United Way).

  3. Encourage relatives, friends, neighbours, and peers, to call us when they have problems.

  4. Encourage people you know - your service club, church, and fundraising organization/department, co-workers to raise funds on our behalf.

  5. Professionals, doctors, lawyers, counsellors, community service agencies, etc., can refer clients to our service.

  6. Find out our needs and donate services, physical resources, etc.

  7. Call us to request a presentation to your group/school/department, about one or more topics of interest to you.

We provide intensive training in active listening, crisis intervention and suicide prevention techniques.
